"There are 48,000 mosques but not a single church building."
"The increase of Afghan believers is impossible to document, yet undeniable. At least several hundred Afghans now follow Christ, when 20 years ago perhaps a few dozen were believers."
"They (believers) can never meet publicly, and even their secret meetings must change times and locations to avoid detection. In rural areas, they often believe as family groups, even as extended families. Also multiplying are small groups of Afghan believers in South Asia, Europe and North America. Pray for the protection of these precious believers, and for the clarity and consistency of their witness."
"One of the fastest ways through which Scriptures may be spread is sharing audio and audio-text Scripture files via mobile phone. This makes the mobile phone potentially the best evangelistic tool in the country!"
Our town in Essex, MD (40,000 pop.) has about 40 or so church buildings or locations, the country of Afghanistan none. Isn't that amazing? We take our Christian faith so much for granted.
Let me challenge you to pray for Afghanistan every time you hear about or read about Afghanistan in the news; if you do this, you could be praying a lot. Pray for open doors for the gospel - that God will do something miraculous to reach the people of Afghanistan with the good news of Jesus Christ. Pray that God will empower each believer now to live fully for Christ, even in the midst of such hostility. Pray!
Peace be with you!
