I don't know why her death surprised me. See, I met her two times in person; she had come to our church. I called her almost weekly over the last two months. Her husband of forty plus years had died in the summer. Plus, she told me she had always battled depression. In this state of mind she wanted to die.
I tried to encourage her. I prayed with her. I gave her Scriptures to read. She really liked Psalm 91, and I gave her Psalm 23 to read and meditate upon. She liked it. Then I asked her to read the gospel of John, for she needed to know who Jesus is more fully and where we find true life. I talked with her the day before she died. In the midst of our conversation she was even laughing; that was so good to hear.
Life. You never know what will happen: the challenges, the events.
Life can end so suddenly and so unexpectedly.
Life is something we often take for granted.
Life in Jesus helps us live fully in the present with eternity in view.
Jesus offers us life to the full now, and life even more wonderful after death.
Let's us live fully in Jesus now and forever.
