I discovered AC/DC performed the song. I found the video of it in which they were performing it at some large stadium. I loved the music. I loved the raspy voice of the lead singer.
I was appalled, however, at the lyrics. Here were people celebrating through song that they were on the "highway to hell." What is more, the stadium was packed. Thousands of people were standing on the field. They were jumping in unison to the music that they were on the "Highway to Hell." Many of them had in their hands or on their heads light up devil's horns. How sad and amazing at the same time!
Good music and a good voice used for the destruction of humanity. We wonder what has happened to our western culture. If art leads the culture, this good music gone bad has led the culture downhill.
I wonder if the lyrics or the music made people jump so much. Were they really celebrating the theme of the song or the beat of the music? Were they rejoicing that their destination was going to be hell, or were they engrossed by the screaming guitars and the beat of the drum? I don't know.
I can see why people love AC/DC. I can see why people hate AC/DC.
