God did not place those words "feelings are dumb," in my life accidentally. I have been tested lately with anxiety over finances. In February we had expenses that almost doubled what is budgeted. Then, just last week the head gasket "blew" in our van. Plus, our car insurance will almost double, because my son got his driver's license last week also. So, feelings of anxiety have tried to overwhelm me.
I have had to battle those feelings with the truth. What God has said in Scripture is how I usually battle those feelings. "And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:13 NIV)" And just a couple paragraphs earlier in Philippians 4:6-7 NIV, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
However, the words which God really used to help me came from Psalms 57:1-2 NIV, "Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me." The words "who fulfills his purpose for me" struck me. Through these financial challenges, "disasters," God is fulfilling his purpose for me. He is molding me and shaping me. God is still in control doing what is best for me.
Those dumb feelings, which don't know how to think, try to make me believe, "Life is out of control." However, I have battled those feelings with truth, and thus those feelings of anxiety with all those thoughts and fears have basically subsided. God is in control. So, I encourage you to battle your dumb feelings with truth, especially God's truth.
